CORPUS CHRISTI, TX –Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) was awarded a $750,000 air service development grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on Tuesday, August 3. This grant aims to ensure a minimum revenue guarantee to provide financial incentives to airline carriers, conduct studies on the possibilities of expanded service, and carry out marketing programs to promote existing local services. This grant will promote prospective new air service from Corpus Christi, TX (CRP) to Denver, Colorado (DEN), Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS), or both locations, dependent on the airline’s selection.
“CCIA is extremely pleased to receive this generous grant and is excited to provide possible options to Denver, CO, and Las Vegas, NV for our residents of Corpus Christi and all of our gulf coast communities. With this new grant, we now possess three key initiatives to continue the upward trajectory of expanding CCIA. The three initiatives include our “Fly Local Pledge,” our Incentive Program, and now our new Air Service Revenue Grant, which will encourage partnership with new airlines and hopefully provide more non-stop flight options for our region,” Mayor Paulette Guajardo said.
This new grant will guarantee airline carriers receive covered costs on flights to either Denver, CO (DEN) or Las Vegas, NV (LAS). With these three initiatives, we are on a positive trend to expand travel possibilities at CCIA.
