International Visitors Welcome!10/21/11
The Corpus Christi International Airport is proud to show off a new and improved federal inspection station in the terminal. This expanded facility now features a streamlined process for clearing Customs with a larger initial screening area, more lanes of passenger traffic, a new baggage carousel, and a luggage re-check area for passengers who are continuing on to another destination. The FAA paid for 95% of the expansion and renovation. The total cost for the project was $3.6 million.
"We have already had several international flights come through here since the project was completed," said Carl Gross, Operations Manager at the airport. One of the charters carried China's Foreign Minister of Science and Technology who was vacationing in the United States.
With a fully functional and customer friendly facility, the airport can now begin working to entice international leisure charters in to Corpus Christi from countries like Mexico.
