Airport Welcomes FedEx Ground

When the name is FedEx, there’s no doubting the commitment to getting things done. So, when decision makers at FedEx decided that the Corpus Christi International Airport would be a good home for their new ground shipping facility, they set the wheels in motion for a beautiful relationship. FedEx is the first development in the airport’s International Business Center. It's a 45,000 square foot facility that is home base for FedEx Ground shipping in the Coastal Bend region.

FedEx Ground needed the right location with quick and easy access to the major transportation routes in and out of the region. The available land at the airport was fully equipped with the necessary utilities. A private development company negotiated a ground lease with the airport, hired the contractor to build the facility and now leases the facility to FedEx. This kind of business deal is beneficial to companies that don’t require land ownership and is an asset to the airport as a revenue generator.

"It's very important for us to diversify our revenue stream at the airport as the economy and the airline industry continues to change," said Enrique Castillo, Assistant Director of Aviation at the airport. "We welcome FedEx Ground to the airport and hope that they will be happy and prosperous here."

Airport managers have dubbed the International Business Center as a mixed-use development with commercial, convenience retail and hospitality as the ideal scenario for the future. Anyone interested in locating a business at the airport can contact Castillo at #361-289-0171 Ext. 1258.
